SENIOR
SERVICES
The Reelfoot Senior Center offers senior
citizens a variety of activities including a noon meal each weekday,
Monday through Friday. Those seniors able to come to the Center
are transported to and from home. Activities include seminars, games,
recreation, exercise, entertainment and field trips all designed
to keep seniors active and involved.
Seniors volunteer in several other RRM programs
including the Toy Store and Food Distribution.
Almost 5,000 Senior Meals are served
each year to those 15 to 20 seniors who come to the Center each
weekday. Approximately 70 Christmas Food Boxes are given each year
to those senior families who attend the Center or receive home-delivered
meals. Boxes contain a ham or turkey in addition to the contents
of our regular food box. For many families these food boxes are
their primary source of Christmas Dinner.
Home-Delivered Meals delivers approximately
11,000 meals each year to elderly persons who are no longer able
to attend the Center. Due to financial, physical or mental problems,
many of these persons would go hungry or eat poorly without someone
to bring meals to their home. For many seniors these meals increase
their independent living by five or more years.
